Mayfest to begin Thursday, May 1

This year's Mayfest is shaping up to be a busy couple of days, with multiple activities running throughout the weekend. Staff- and student-coordinated events range from annual classics, like the kick-off bonfire, to a one-time-only concert by the Guitar Hero-famed band, Freezepop.

Bard no longer considered safety school for Simon's Rock students

Transfer students still enjoy many perks

Despite the fact that students at Simon's Rock are already in college, two-thirds of the students enrolled here will transfer after sophomore year. Because Simon's Rock is very closely affiliated with Bard College, many students believe that they are automatically accepted to Bard if they attend Simon's Rock. However, this is not the case.

Private colleges would open police records with Mass. bill

Boston University police records, along with those at private colleges across the state, could soon become public, if a bill approved yesterday by a legislative committee becomes law. The joint Committee on State Administration and Regulatory Oversight passed and sent to the Senate a bill that would make public "all records, reports or other documentary materials" kept by the special state police forces that are trained and approved by the state but employed by colleges.

Records trail students despite exonerations

The Durham, N.C., Police Department exonerated senior Eric Halperin less than a month after he was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana and possession of marijuana with the intent to sell, but his name always will remain under a cloud of suspicion on the world's largest stage: the World Wide Web.
